Humility and Vanity

Humility is divinity. It is a negation of the ego . Tolerance ,forgiveness, patience, balance of mind are the natural virtues that manifest themselves in someone who is humble. It encompasses a love for all fellow human beings. It sublimates the personality lending it a genuine, peaceful and cheerful exterior. As a result peace of mind and a state of permanent happiness are ensconced in the heart. Humility is thus next to Godliness.

Vanity on the other hand fosters arrogance, acrimony, attitude, aggressiveness, anger, abusiveness and angst. It feeds and fattens the ego so much so that it is ready to burst at the slightest of pin -pricks.There is a frenetic and frantic struggle to keep the ego flying high perpetually resulting in frustration ,envy, negativity and bitterness which in turn have disastrous effects on the psyche, personality, demeanor of the vain. A bruised ego, shattered mental contentment and unhappiness are the catastrophic effects of vanity.

Should we not avoid this obesity of the ego ? Obesity of ever kind is detrimental and deleterious for health whether mental or physical. It is time we seriously self introspect and opt for a better and pleasurable life for after all we all have the right to be supremely happy, and that is what we yearn and hanker for throughout our lives.
